School Rules
Our school rules describe how a student of St Anthony’s Canossian Primary should behave. Our school believes in positive discipline. Students are to adhere to school rules at all times while they are in school. To be truly Canossian, our students must learn to respect self, school and nation.
Respect for self
1. Dress code
(1.1) Students must wear the prescribed school uniform. Modification to the uniform is not allowed.
(1.2) Students are expected to be attired in plain white shoes with white socks covering the ankle.
(1.3) Students are allowed to wear sports shoes only on CCA days (sports-related CCAs only). The sports shoes must be 50% predominantly white, with white laces and white soles.
(1.4) For PE lessons and sports practices, students are to wear their blue school shorts and PE T-shirts, with the T-shirt neatly tucked in. Before leaving school, students are required to wear their pinafore over their PE attire, unless special permission has been granted for special occasions.
(1.5) Pinafores must be at knee-length.
(1.6) Students should be neat and tidy at all times. Hair accessories must be small, plain and simple, and restricted to blue, black or white only.
(1.7) Students are to ensure that their hair is not coloured and their fringe should be above the eyebrows. If the fringe is long, hair clips or a hairband must be used to ensure neatness.
(1.8) Students are to tie up their hair once it touches the collar of the blouse, and it should remain tied whenever they are in school uniform, both inside and outside the school.
(1.9) Students are to keep their fingernails short and clean. Students are not allowed to apply nail polish or nail varnish on their fingernails.
(1.10) Students who are advised by their optometrist to wear contact lens , should only wear clear ones. Coloured or tinted contact lens are not allowed.
2. Accessories
(2.1) Students are to wear only one small, simple ear stud of the same design on each ear. Fanciful, dangling and loop earrings or black ear studs are not allowed.
(2.2) For safety reasons, students are not allowed to wear any jewellery e.g. bracelets, chains, pendants, necklaces, anklets etc.
3. Daily work, homework and assignment
(3.1) Students must bring all necessary books and materials/resources to school/ class for lessons.
(3.2) Students are to take pride in their work and complete all homework and assignments on time (Home-Based Learning included) as stated by the teacher.
4. Forgery
(4.1) Students must not change any information on official documents or forge their parent’s/guardian’s signature. Forgery is a serious offence and will be dealt with accordingly.
5. Punctuality
(5.1) Students must be seated at the assembly area by 7.25 a.m. School starts at 7.30am. Students must be punctual for all lessons, CCA sessions and other school programmes and activities.
6. Attendance
(6.1) Students must attend school and CCA sessions regularly unless they are taken ill.
(6.2) Students must present a valid medical certificate or valid document when absent from school or CCA sessions.
(6.3) Students are not to leave the school premises before the dismissal bell without permission from their Form Teacher. The student’s parents/guardians or authorised caregiver has to sign her out from the General Office.
(6.4) Students are also not allowed to leave the school premises before their enrichment lessons/CCA without prior permission from their Form Teacher.
7. Integrity
(7.1) Students must be honest at all times. They should not take items which do not belong to them.
(7.2) Students must not cheat in daily work, examinations or checkpoint assessments Cheating during and after examinations, including altering of answers or marks is a serious offence and will be dealt with accordingly.
8. Behaviour
(8.1) Students must always be courteous and respectful in their words and actions towards teachers, school staff, and fellow schoolmates.
(8.2) The school adopts a zero-tolerance policy on bullying. This includes cyber bullying, physical, social and verbal bullying.
(8.3) Students must queue up when buying food/ other items from the canteen/ bookshop.
(8.4) Consumption of food and drinks are only allowed in the canteen unless instructed otherwise.
(8.5) Students are not allowed to sell things to one another privately.
(8.6) All students are not allowed to have in their possession, any weapon or sharp objects. They are also not allowed to bring any weapon-like item which is used or intended to be used to cause harm to others.
(8.7) Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited and regarded as serious offences. This includes the possession of cigarettes or vaping devices. Any student found committing this offence will be reported to the relevant government authorities.
(8.8) Students must respect and care for all school property, including classrooms, furniture, books, and equipment. Vandalism, misuse, or damage is strictly prohibited, and everyone is expected to help maintain a safe and clean environment.
9. Handphone & Electronic Devices
(9.1) Students can only bring a handphone or smart watch with calling/messaging functions to school when permission is granted by the school. The Permission to Bring Electronic Device Form is only valid for one year. Smart watches are strongly discouraged as all other functions will need to be deactivated when your daughter/ward is in school. Additionally, students are not allowed to wear smart watches during all school-based and national examinations (PSLE).
(9.2) Students are not to switch on or use their handphones at all times within the school ground and during learning journeys unless permission is granted by the teachers. They can use the handphone after school, only at the waiting areas beside the Security Guard Post or the St. Raphael Gate and must switch it off immediately after contacting their parents/guardians. Misuse of handphones and electronic devices will lead to the confiscation of these items and parents/guardians will be contacted.
(9.3) Under the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and for the safety of all students, students are not allowed to take, film or post any picture/ videos of others without their permission.
(9.4) Students are to use polite words in their communication with others online. They are not to harm, bully or say unkind words to others online. (Refer to point 8.2)
(9.5) Except for calculators and e-dictionaries, students are not allowed to bring any other electronic devices without permission. The school will not bear any responsibility for the loss of these devices.
Respect for Nation
10. National Anthem and Pledge
(10.1) Students, who are Singapore Citizens, must sing the National Anthem and say the pledge. Students will take the pledge with the right fist over the heart.
(10.2) Students must be respectful when participating in flag-raising, flag-lowering and other school ceremonies.
(10.3) Students must be respectful at prayer time.
